IN THE GREEN – 10th February 2019

Wow I can’t believe we are at the end of the Home and Away season for the competitive teams!

I’m sure you will all join me in congratulating the Girls team on their season and wish them good luck in this Wednesday’s Semi final. I’m very proud of you all and I know you will do your best!

Friday night teams this is your last round, it’s a two day game so you must be available to play both nights, please let me or your team manager know your availability.

Last round’s review

The Girls had a Bye but they made the most of the night off and trained. The team also lent a hand to the Master Blasters Training  Under 10 -  Under 10’s – In a very close game against Eltham the match was in the balance when both coaches agreed to call the game off due to approaching lightning. Bailey won the Boost juice voucher for a solid all round effort. Under 12 White - Unfortunately a loss but the boys all contributed in week one. Oliver topped scored with 22 runs and week two Chayse, Ben Carnovale & Ben Compton-Cook all took wickets. Under 12 Green –
The boys travelled to Hurstbridge to test themselves against the second top side. We batted first and the start was disastrous, falling to 5/16 before you could blink. We consolidated through Jet who top scored with 14 and finished our innings on 43. We needed to bowl and field well to make Hurstbridge earn their win and to the boys credit they were solid with the ball or in the field. At the end of their 20 overs Hurstbridge were 5/66. Michael was on a hat-trick and finished with 2/1 whilst Tyler, Liam, Darcy and Dan took one wicket apiece and the combination of Wes and Cash combined for a run out.

We had four overs to bat at the end of day one and were 0/14 at stumps.

Our second innings was much better, we applied ourselves well and finished on 5/50. Wes top scored with 17 retired not out and Liam made a career high of 8.

We teamed well in our second innings with the ball, both Wes and Lucas were on hat-tricks. In fact Lucas finished the game with his two wickets so we will have to wait until the Eltham match to see if he can complete his hat trick.

Tyler took two wickets, which is his best result to date with the ball and Theo came back for his first game since Christmas and helped himself to a wicket, courtesy of a juggling catch from Liam.

We proved we can match it with the best sides because we were competitive for three quarters of the game, only letting ourselves down early in the match. If we concentrate for the entire game against Eltham we are a good chance of recording a victory.

Match highlights -
- Michael, Wes and Lucas all on hat-tricks.
- Good catches from Dan and Liam.
- Tyler taking his best figures with the ball (and most of anyone for the match).
- Liam making his highest score.
