17 Mar 2021 by Lauren Cleary

Monday night the DVCA Junior Awards were announced and it’s with great pride I share with you the four outstanding young GCC cricketers who took out awards for their division.

The GCC are extremely proud of our four winners

🏏 Hanna Waters
🏏 Dakota Edmonds
🏏 Tom Eames
🏏 Wes Meckiff

DVCA Girls Level 1 Batting Award – Hanna Waters Greensborough Cricket Club 155 runs

Hanna has had a great season, her batting has improved throughout the season due to consistent training, Hanna has a great eye for batting but she has worked hard on her control and timing which have paid dividends this season. I’m sure she will continue to improve and the sky is the limit for her cricketing ability. Hanna is also a leader of the team helping the younger members of the team, with a positive and friendly attitude Hanna is already a role model for our younger team members. Highlight of her season would have to be Round 8 vs North Eltham with 40 off just 13 balls.

DVCA Girls Level 1 Bowling Award – Dakota Edmonds- Greensborough Cricket Club- 15 wickets @ 1.87

Dakota I consider to be a leader of the team, always looking for ways to improve herself and helping and encouraging her teammates, she has had a fantastic season with the ball which has happened from training hard and thinking about better ways to bowl, she has natural ability but also thinks about the game by adjusting her bowling during the game to suit conditions and/or the state of the game. Dakota’s positive and friendly attitude rubs off on her teammates and is extremely easy to coach.
Highlight was in Round 3 versus Lower Eltham when she took 5 for 6 off 3 overs with 1 maiden

DVCA Under 16 White- Tom Eames – Greensborough Cricket Club – 165 runs @ 41.2

Right Hand bat, left hand fast bowler. Tom has a great season with the bat. His consistency encouraged a young side to be competitive every game. He has a great cricket career ahead with bat and ball.

Under 16 White Wesley Meckiff Greensborough Cricket Club 11 wickets @ 10.00

Wes had an amazing season with the ball, compiling 11 wickets in 7 games. He is a right hand fast bowler. To achieve this as an 11 year old is credit to his hard work and a great achievement. Wes has a great cricket career in front of him.
